Book Blog Hop and Follow Friday (11-9-12)

Happy Friday everyone! I hope that you had a great week and are planning on something fun to do this weekend! I'm working all weekend but I'm so excited that election season is over in America. Regardless of who won, I'm so excited that I won't be inundated with commericals, radio ads, mailings, and those annoying telephone calls. Well, let's get onto the Friday fun ...

Jen at Crazy For Books asks:

Is there a book series that you’re not totally into, but still keep buying new releases because you love the covers?

No, I'm pretty much one of those people who, if I don't enjoy something, I don't read it. The last time I did buy a book in series because I liked the cover but didn't really enjoy the books anymore was the Gossip Girl series. It just got to be too much, but I was in my early teens when those books were coming out, so it hasn't been recently!

Parajunkee asks:

Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

In a way, I do. But there are so many books out there that have similar concepts that it makes it fall to the author to distingush it from other books through characters, dialogue, or development. For example, there are always tons of chick lit books about jilted brides or women getting cold feet before the wedding. But what makes it different is the author's take on it.

So, what are your answers this week? Let me know and have a great weekend!

  1. I feel the same! If an author can make it their own, it shouldn't be a problem! Great answer :)

  2. Same here...if I can't get into a book, I do not finish it. No sense wasting valuable reading time. :)

And.....I normally do not read a series but covers draw me in.

Happy Hopping!! Stop by for my answer if you like.

  3. I don't really mind as long as each book has a unique voice - as for buying books in a series I don't like just because the cover is nice - hell no :-)
