Book Blog Hop and Follow Friday (11-2-12)

Happy Friday everyone! I hope that everyone is doing okay, especially if you had to deal with any of Sandy's shananigan's this week. I lost power Monday nite and didn't have it back until Tuesday afternook. Seeing the photos of all those in New Jersey and the New York metro area, I know how lucky I am. Please make sure to keep all those people in your prayers. Now, let's get onto the Friday fun ...

Jen at Crazy for Books asks:

Is there a book that has been languishing on your TBR pile even though you spent months anticipating its release?

There are quite a few books that I've eagerly anticipated that are lounging in my TBR pile. The one that's been there the longest is The Weird Sisters, which saddens me because I've heard many great things about it. The newest one, the one that shocks me the most about just lounging over there? A Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling! I don't know why, but I want to hold off on reading that one. I think I might get to it around Christmas.

Parajunkee asks:

What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?

I feel like there are so many things that can make or break a book for me. The biggest thing that is a deal breaker, though, is if there is no pull from the first 25 pages (give or take). If the author isn't drawing me in, giving me a reason to continue reading, that's my biggest deal breaker. I can handle just about anything else, but if there is no reason for me to read, then I'm over it.

So, what book (or books) are languishing in your TBR pile, even though you couldn't wait to get your hands on it? What's a book deal breaker for you? Let me know and have a great weekend!

  1. The Casual Vacancy was one I was really excited for too! But I've been busy and it's long and a little hard to get into so it's been sitting next to my bed since it came out.

  2. I agree on your bookish deal breaker. That needs to be some kind of connection, or else the book will just end up back on my bookshelf.

  6. I'd love to read the Weird Sisters, too. It's just hard to find both reading and writing time! I have a ton of TBR books as a result!
