Book Blog Hop, TGIF, and Follow Friday (7-6-12)

Happy Friday everyone! I hope that you had a wonderful and safe 4th of July, however you chose to celebrate. We spent the day swimming and then went to watch the fireworks. Nothing too exciting, but it was a nice day. And, like the rest of the US, we are in the midst of a heatwave. It's awful, but looks like it should start cooling down on Sunday (thank goodness!) Now, onto the Friday fun ...

Jen at Crazy For Books asks:

If you could be a character from any book, who would you be?

Well, I would love to be Hermione, but I think I would only like it minus the dangerous stuff they are always thrown into. I would love to be Valentine Roncalli from the Very Valentine series. I would love to live in Manhattan, travel to Italy, and create shoes. It's basically my dream life!

Greads asks:

Which books do you go to for comfort & familiarity?
Is there a type of book you seek out when you're needing that extra bit of comfort in your life?

I tend to seek out chick-lit books. They are just something that is so easy to read and they are engaging, so it's easy to get lost in one.

Parajunkee asks:

Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don’t like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.

The book that I think of instantly is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. It's a fantasy novel, but I just had to read it. I had seen so many reviews from bloggers, many of whom do not read fantasy, so I thought that I should give it a try. And I absolutely loved it! So glad that I decided to give it a try!

So, which character would you be if you could be? What books are comforting to you? What book was outside your genre but you loved it? Let me know, and have a great weekend!

  1. I tend to like chick lit as comfort food but only when I'm not needing comfort after a breakup! :-)

  6. Another Harry Potter choice. :)

My first thoughts were.....I don’t think I would want to be any character in a book. :)

But then I thought of two books I loved and listed those characters. :)

Stop by for my full answer. :)

  7. I picked up Night Circus to see what all the fuss was too and actually found it to be pretty good.

Lots of people picking Hermoine which is awesome because she was my fave of the trio.

  11. Stopping on by from the Book Bloggers Hop, nice to "meet" you!

I have to mention that when I picked up The Night Circus I almost didn't read it because it didn't sound like anything I'd ever read before and I'm generally not a fan of anything smacking of paranormal. But WOW did that book knock my socks off! Amazing read :)
