Top Ten Tuesday (11-1-11)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Each week, they post a different topic, and you get to create your own top ten list. This week's topic:

Books I Had a VERY Strong Reaction To (cry, laugh, hurl across the room, etc.)

1) Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah - I cried at several points during this book, but this most touching moment for me was when Tully deals with the death of her grandmother. It was something that I really identified with and Kristin Hannah wrote about the whole ordeal perfectly.

2) Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte - as I was reading this book, I became so mad. Why, you might ask? Because no one had ever MADE me read this book! I wish that someone had forced me to so that I wouldn't have waited as long as I did.

3) Bossypants by Tina Fey - had me cracking up the whole time I was reading it. If you haven't read it yet, you need to!

4) Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand - as I was reading this book, cried a few times at what these men had to endure. But at the end, I was so proud to be an American, to learn what these men sacrificed for our country. It was a wonderful story, beautifully written, and I think that anybody reading this would have the same reactions that I did.

5) The Help by Kathryn Stockett - I became so enraged at how certain women treated their maids that I almost wanted to scream at them! Also, there was a certain point in the book where I just started laughing out loud, and if you have read this novel, then you probably know what I am talking about.

6) Unbearable Lightness by Portia de Rossi - there were points in this book where I had to put it down and walk away because it was just too scary to read about de Rossi's battle with anorexia.

7) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling - I remember holding my eyes open so that I could finish this book. I managed to read it all in about 2.5 days, staying up until 4 am so that I could know what happened (it's okay, it was during the summer so I wasn't exhausted when I went to school).

8) New Moon by Stephanie Meyer - I will admit, I got caught up in the Twilight hype when the books were coming out. But this book was AWFUL!!! I remember I was just skimming the pages to finish it, and that I was so angry that such a great first book could lead to such a bad second book.

9) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling - okay, for everyone who read the series, who didn't cry while reading this novel?!?

What books made you have a very strong reaction? Let me know!
