Book Blog Hop and Follow Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Are you enjoying the weather, wherever you are? Here's it's cooling off and I'm loving it! There have been times where I've left to go to work in the morning and it's been in the high 30s, so I have to wear a coat and scarf (in case you didn't know, I LOVE scarves and wear them whenever possible!) Well, let's get on to the Friday fun ...

Jen at Crazy For Books asks:

With Autumn upon us and Halloween drawing near, what books remind you of fall? What ones do you enjoy reading that are about autumn?

Well, I really love reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It takes place over the span of many, many years, but something about it just makes me think of autumn. There is also The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern which isn't set during autumn, but something about it just makes it the perfect book to read this time of year.

Parajunkee asks:

What book do you think would make a great Halloween movie? Please explain in graphic detail of goriness.

Well, I hate anything scary (I don't believe in paying money to have the living daylights scared out of you ... call my crazy, but I truly believe that), so there is nothing very gory that I can think of. I would love to see The Night Circus made into a movie and I think it would be a great movie to premiere in the fall.

So, what books do you love reading at this time of year? What book do you think would make a great Halloween movie? Let me know and have a great weekend!

Review: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

The Night Circus
Author: Erin Morgenstern
Published: September 13, 2011
Genre: fantasy
Hardcover: 387 pages
Source: purchased at Barnes & Noble

My Rating: 5 stars

Synopsis (from GoodReads): The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands. True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

My Thoughts: I loved this book, but I don't know how to do a review on it. It was everything that I thought it would be: filled with magic, mystical, great characters, a wonderful love story, a duel. It was all there! I just don't know what to write about it! To try and describe or review this book just seems like something I can't do. I really did love it and it was a fantastic read. I couldn't put it down and found myself being swept up in the story. I typically don't like books that are filled with desciptions, but this book broke that notion for me. I couldn't get enough of the descriptions and wanted more! I became a reveur, just like those crazed fans in the book. I wanted to follow this story wherever it was going and was so sad to see it end.

The only way I can think to describe this book is to compare it to the best piece of cheesecake that you've ever had: wonderfully decadent, rich, and wanting more after the last bite. I don't know if that counts as a review, but that's the only way I can think to describe Erin Morgenstern's magnificent first novel.

Waiting On Wednesday (8-10-11)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Each week, you highlight an upcoming release that you are eagerly anticipating. This week, I'm looking forward to The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (release date: September 13, 2011).

Synopsis (from bn.com): The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

Written in rich, seductive prose, this spell-casting novel is a feast for the senses and the heart.

I think this sounds like a really interesting read ... definitely something to look forward to in the chillier months! What are you waiting on this Wednesday?
