She was fascinating and I found it interesting that it was noted among those people who worked for the embassy that she might be a Nazi or Communist sympathizer.

Alexis - I really did enjoy this book, but I just felt like it was weighed down with too many facts at some points. It would be a bit too much for me, especially when Larson would go on a bit of a tangent on some random fact, write for a page or two about it, and then get back to the main story. If there was a little more editing, it would move a little faster and be more interesting. Definitely check it out though ... I think you would really enjoy it!Kristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11616941043064124492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4224639182938282964.post-6896772232160422732011-10-01T14:06:50.384-04:002011-10-01T14:06:50.384-04:00This book has been on my radar for obvious reasons...This book has been on my radar for obvious reasons but I'm interested in why it was 3 stars for you (not that 3 stars is bad). What didn't work for you? I'm just trying to get a feel for what to expect. Because I love WWII but this is nonfiction and so I don't know where this should be on my list. I also don't want to have unrealistic expectations.Alexis @ Reflections of a Bookaholichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13745513625965620545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4224639182938282964.post-57362208728913500962011-10-01T13:26:29.314-04:002011-10-01T13:26:29.314-04:00I also thought this was a great book -- so, nice t...I also thought this was a great book -- so, nice to read your thoughts on it. I love how Larson writes -- he's such a storyteller, that history really comes alive.

Martha was really something, wasn't she?Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03456689516505172959noreply@blogger.com
